Job Title: Qualitative Research Intern - Innovation R&D (Avanade) Overview: Join our Innovation R&D team within the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) as a Qualitative Researcher. Collaborate with the Head of Research and Head of Engineering to design and execute qualitative research using digital ethnography, thematic analysis, psychometrics, and NLP for text analysis. Engage with cross-functional teams to explore emerging technologies like Agentic AI, embodied AI, and quantum computing. Key Responsibilities: * Qualitative Research Design and Analysis: Design qualitative research studies, including digital ethnography, focus groups, and thematic analysis. Use NLP tools for thematic coding, sentiment analysis, and topic modeling on large qualitative datasets. * Survey Methodology and Psychometrics: Develop and validate surveys, ensuring reliability and validity using psychometric techniques (e.g., scale development, factor analysis). * Narrative Analysis and Storytelling: Conduct narrative analysis to extract insights from qualitative data and craft compelling stories for strategic decision-making. * Digital Ethnography and Cultural Analysis: Conduct digital ethnographies to understand cultural dynamics and user behaviors within digital communities. * Data Integration and Reporting: Synthesize qualitative insights with quantitative findings for holistic research insights and present them in clear, impactful reports. * Research Ethics and Privacy: Ensure ethical research practices, including informed consent and data privacy compliance. * Collaborative Engagement: Work closely with quantitative researchers, data engineers, and UX teams for integrated research insights. * Qualifications: * Education: Master's or PhD in Qualitative Psychology, Digital Anthropology, Social Data Science, Sociology, or related fields. * Experience: Proven experience in qualitative research, psychometrics, NLP for text analysis, and digital ethnography. * Academic or Professional Publications in relevant journals are highly valued. * Professional Skills: * Advanced Qualitative Research and NLP Expertise: Proficiency in thematic analysis, narrative analysis, digital ethnography, and NLP tools for text coding, sentiment analysis, and topic modeling. * Survey Design and Psychometrics: Expertise in survey methodology, scale development, and psychometric validation using advanced qualitative and quantitative techniques. * Communication and Storytelling: Strong ability to craft compelling narratives from qualitative insights, coupled with excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. * Technical Skills: Your technical skillset can be varied, but some of the following would be a good indicator that you're a great fit: * Qualitative Analysis and Coding: Proficiency in automated transcription, thematic coding, pattern recognition, and NLP for text analysis on large qualitative datasets. * Digital Ethnography and Social Listening: Expertise in digital ethnography, cultural analysis, and social listening to understand digital communities and identify emerging trends. * Data Visualization and Reporting: Ability to craft compelling narratives from qualitative data and create interactive visualizations for effective communication of insights. * About Avanade: Avanade is the leading provider of innovative digital and cloud services, business solutions, and design-led experiences on the Microsoft ecosystem.
